Amazon introduces domestic flight bookings service in India

US e-commerce giant Amazon has launched flight search and bookings service in India. The booking is live on its site and currently it is supporting domestic flight bookings only.

To launch the service, the company has tied-up with travel portal Cleartrip. "We are excited to partner with Cleartrip and share their passion of creating best in class travel experiences," Shariq Plasticwala, Director, Amazon Pay, said in a statement.

Plasticwala further said, on cancellation of the air ticket, no additional charges will be levied upon the customers apart from the usual cancellation penalty which they would need to bear anyhow. The icon for the flights booking is available on the Amazon Pay page on the site as well as a mobile app. "Were delighted to add domestic flight bookings enabling customers to do more with their Amazon app and for prime members to get more value from their membership," Plasticwala added.

This is the second attempt by Amazon to enter into travel domain. Amazon had earlier forayed into hotel bookings but exited due to unfavorable experience.
