Delhi Airport Airspace restrictions from Jan 21 to impact flight ops for 6 days
Indira Gandhi International Airport
The restrictions coincide with one of the busiest travel windows at IGI Airport, particularly for international departures and arrivals, including connections to Europe.
Flight operations at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport are expected to face disruptions from January 21 for a period of six days due to temporary airspace restrictions imposed for Republic Day flypast rehearsals and the main parade, as per a recent notice.
According to a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by aviation authorities, Delhi’s airspace will be partially closed daily between 10:20 am and 12:45 pm during this period. As a result, over 600 flights per day could be impacted through delays, rescheduling, or cancellations, affecting thousands of passengers.
The situation may be further compounded by prevailing winter fog conditions, which are already affecting visibility and flight punctuality in Delhi. Aviation stakeholders caution that the combined impact of fog-related delays and airspace restrictions could intensify congestion and passenger inconvenience.
