FTAS GROW 4.5 PER CENT IN MARCH 2014

Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in March, 2014 was 6.69  lakhs which was 6.40 lakhs in March, 2013 with a growth of 4.5 per cent.  Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) from tourism in Rupees terms in March, 2014 were Rs.10,257 crores in comparison to Rs.9,553 crores in March, 2013.  FTAs during the period January-March 2014 were 21.27 lakhs with a growth of 4.9 per cent, as compared to the FTAs of 20.27 lakhs with a growth of 3 per cent during January-March 2013 over the corresponding period of 2012.

FEEs during the month of March 2014 were Rs.10,257 crores as compared to Rs.9,553 crores in March 2013 and Rs.7,843 crores in March 2012. The growth rate in FEEs in rupee terms in March 2014 over March 2013 was 7.4 per cent as compared to 21.8 per cent in March 2013 over March 2012. FEE from tourism in rupee terms during January-March 2014 were Rs.32,809 crores with a growth of 8.4 per cent, as compared to the FEE of Rs.30,270 crores with a growth of 21.2 per cent during  January-March 2013 over the corresponding period of 2012.

FEEs in US$ terms during the month of March 2014 were US$ 1.679 billion as compared to FEEs of US$ 1.757 billion during  the month of March 2013 and US$ 1.559 billion in March  2012. The growth rate in FEEs in US$ terms in March 2014 over March 2013 was negative growth of 4.4 per cent as compared to the growth of 12.7 per cent in  March 2013 over March  2012. FEE from tourism in terms of US$ during January-March 2014 were US$ 5.308 billion with a negative growth of 5 per cent, as compared to US$ 5.587 billion with a growth of 12.4 per cent during  January-March 2013 over the corresponding period of 2012.
