An IAS Officer, Harikishore S, from the Kerala cadre (2008 Batch), has taken over the role of Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. As per an official notice, his tenure at the ministry will be of five years. He replaces M.R. Synrem, IAS (AM: 2002) in the current role.
His appointment is a part of recent move by Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) to strengthen administrative leadership. Besides, Harikishore’s appointment, a green light was given for 34 others at the Joint Secretary or equivalent level, with remuneration aligned to Level 14 of the Pay Matrix. Most tenures are set for five years or until further orders, with some extended to superannuation dates to ensure long-term stability.
