Hotel bookings surge 41% ahead of Independence Day weekend: Report

Top destinations by YoY increase in bookings include Udaipur, Candolim, Lonavala, followed by others.

Recent insights from World on Holiday by RateGain show a significant uptick in hotel bookings for the upcoming weekend, a clear indicator of how Indians are embracing micro-holidays that don’t need elaborate planning or extended leaves. This isn’t just a passing trend, it reflects a larger behavioral shift among India’s urban travellers, many of whom now favour short breaks throughout the year over the traditional annual vacation.

Top destinations by year-on-year increase in bookings include Udaipur (+6,860%), Candolim (+1,700%), Lonavala (+540%), Mysuru, Mahabaleshwar, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru also saw notable spikes

The trend highlights a growing preference for domestic trips that offer meaningful experiences without the hassle of long travel. With better connectivity and rising affordability, Indians are increasingly open to planning impromptu escapes around national holidays.
