Hotels booking surge by 58% YoY for Valentine’s weekend, 2026: RateGain report

Agra leads with a 2000% increase in booking, followed by Jaisalmer (1400%), Madikeri (1100%), Puducherry (1000%), Goa (800%) and more.

Hotel bookings for Valentine's weekend (February 13-16) have increased by 58% year-on-year, according to data from Adara, a RateGain company, signaling a definitive shift in how romance is being celebrated in India.

Agra leads with a staggering 2000% increase in bookings, signaling the popularity of Taj Mahal. Close behind is Jaisalmer, up 1400%, where couples are trading dinner reservations for champagne sunsets over the Thar desert and starlit dinners in heritage havelis.

Madikeri in Coorg has seen an 1100% spike; Puducherry has jumped 1000%, while Goa has recorded an 800% increase. Destinations like Kevadia (up 300%) and New Tehri (up 100%) also saw the surge.

Udaipur (550%), Bengaluru (269%), and Ooty (200%) round out the list, each offering their own flavor of escape.

Valentine’s weekend coincides with India’s peak wedding season—February 2026 alone has multiple marriage dates. The spike reflects not just romantic getaways, but pre-wedding escapes, intimate staycations, and couples weaving Valentine’s celebrations into their wedding festivities.
