The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) Uttar Pradesh Chapter successfully organised a day-long AI Workshop on March 30 at the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi. Attended by 50 members, the session aimed to equip the travel trade with the tools to become “AI Ready.”
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Sushma Ghildyal (Dean, Faculty of Arts, BHU) and Pawas Prasoon (Assistant Director, Ministry of Tourism, GoI). IATO EC Member P. Vijaysarthi also graced the occasion. The event was coordinated by Prof. Pravin Singh Rana of BHU and the Chapter Chairman of Uttar Pradesh, Prateek Hira.
Hira, UP Chapter chairman said “Participants in our session gained valuable insights into practical AI solutions tailored specifically for the travel industry. The hands-on training certainly made the participants AI-literate and helped boost our members' confidence by enabling them to use AI in their day-to-day work and business management. AI is transforming tourism by offering personalised planning, automated services, and optimised operations that drive significant revenue growth. Furthermore, these technologies enhance traveller experiences through chatbots and other tools for efficient resource management.”
The day concluded with a valedictory session chaired by Prof. Jyoti Rohila Rana (Head of Department - Tourism, BHU) and Subash Kapoor of the Varanasi Tourism Guild, where certificates were distributed to all participants.
