INDIGO AWARDED FOR OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

Achieving yet another milestone, IndiGo has been awarded by Airbus with the “Best Operational Excellence Worldwide 2012-2013”, in recognition of its service record with the single-aisle aircraft type with a fleet of 78 aircraft. The award was presented by Airbus to IndiGo during the Airbus Symposium conducted on 18-22 May 2014, at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With more than 6000 A320 family aircraft delivered, there are over 5900 in operation around the globe. IndiGo has been recognised as the world’s best amongst 311 operators, including Jetblue, Spirit Airlines, Frontier Airlines etc. in the Americas, EasyJet, Vueling, etc in Europe and Air Asia, Air Arabia, Cebu Pacific etc in Asia. For IndiGo to win this award, from amongst these operators, is a testimony to 6E’s consistency and operational excellence.

Speaking on this feat, Aditya Ghosh, President, IndiGo said, “To be recognised at the world stage is indeed an exhilarating and yet overwhelming feeling. We are less than eight years old and to be compared against some of the world’s largest airlines is an honour in itself and then to come out ahead, is amazing! I can’t thank my team enough and am also great to our fliers for believing in us. It’s an extremely proud moment for me as an Indian to see an Indian carrier being adjudged as the world’s best!”

IndiGo was selected based on data covering two years of operations and taking into account the number of aircraft in the fleet, daily utilisation rate, technical reliability and the number of delays caused due to operational reasons.

Speaking on the occasion, Didier Lux, Head, Airbus Customer Services said, “We are proud of being part of IndiGo’s success with our great A320 Family product and our efficient support teams. We congratulate IndiGo to perform so well with the A320 aircraft in service. This demonstrates that it is possible to combine a very fast growth, stringent LCC operations with high airplane utilization and an impressive dispatch reliability performance. We look forward to continuing the successful cooperative adventure with IndiGo in the future to achieve much more success with many more aircraft in its fleet.”
