“We're seeing strong travel intent for host cities, led by Delhi and Mumbai, as fans follow India's campaign. Colombo is also drawing attention for cross-border travel,” said Bernard Corraya, General Manager, Wego India.
Wego, travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA region), reports a significant increase in flight searches for cities hosting the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The company’s data shows demand peaked in late 2025 and has remained strong into February 2026, as cricket fans plan travel for the tournament co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.
January and February 2026 recorded a notable surge in travel interest, with cities hosting the World Cup accounting for approximately 45–55% of total searches and clicks across our platform. With India progressing to the Super 8 stage, demand for flights and accommodation across all host cities where India is scheduled to play is expected to rise further, indicating strong momentum in event-driven travel trends.
Other key host cities, including Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Colombo, also recorded strong search volumes. Interest peaked in late 2025 and gradually moderated as the tournament approached. These trends indicate that fans are planning their travel well in advance for matches across the eight host venues, five in India and three in Sri Lanka, driving a steady rise in clicks and bookings.
Reflecting on the latest search trends on Wego India, Bernard Corraya, General Manager, Wego India, said, “We're seeing strong travel intent for host cities, led by Delhi and Mumbai, as fans follow India's campaign. Colombo is also drawing attention for cross-border travel.”
