MTDC launches initiative to increase voters in state elections

Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) takes a special initiative to create voting awareness amongst the tourists in Maharashtra. A pre-election meeting was conducted recently by the State Election Commissioner JS Saharia along with Secretary State Election Commissioner, Shekhar Channe; KH Govinda Raj, Managing Director, MTDC and Swati Kale, General Manager, MTDC. The meeting was conducted with the Hoteliers and Restaurant Associations, tour operators in Maharashtra and the MTDC incentive scheme holders. The main objective is to ensure stakeholder’s active participation to educate and spread appropriate information about the upcoming election 2016-2017 and in turn guarantee maximum voters turnout.

Kale said, “State Election Commission of Maharashtra is going to conduct elections between November 2016 and February 2017. MTDC has taken this special initiative to drive this campaign and increase the voting percentage in the state. We have suggested our stake holders to undertake various steps to achieve the maximum voter’s percentage across Maharashtra elections 2016 – 2017. To boost this campaign MTDC will offer a 25 per cent discount on stay at MTDC resort only to the customer who has voted.  Hence, we appeal to all our tourists, make a right decision. Go Vote!”

Voting is a right provided to every citizen. To raise awareness and increase the importance of this right, MTDC suggested their stakeholders to promote this campaign by placing signs and banners around their vicinity, showcasing the importance of voting and creating responsiveness amongst tourists to making use of their holiday (Election Day) only by participating in the upcoming election and sharing their vote. MTDC also recommended their stakeholders to introduce certain perks, offers or discount only to the tourist who have utilised their voting rights.
