Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) recently celebrated the christening and debut of the Norwegian Luna in Miami, marking the newest ship to sail the Caribbean with round-trip cruises scheduled through April 2027. The Norwegian Luna is positioned to be a key asset for travel advisors, featuring itineraries that maximize guest experience by visiting both of NCL’s highly-rated private resort-style destinations: Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas and Harvest Caye in Belize.
Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, said, “Curated to deliver attractions for families with the NCL-exclusive Aqua Slidecoaster, and the all-new Moon Climber and Luna Midway activities; as well as adult-only experiences like the late-night production of ‘LunaTique,’ Norwegian Luna is the perfect ship for multigenerational travellers looking for a warm vacation in the tropics. With itineraries designed to bring guests to Great Stirrup Cay, our private island in the Bahamas, they will have the opportunity to experience firsthand the highly anticipated offerings that our guests are raving about.”
The christening ceremony, held at the Company’s LEED Gold Certified terminal at Port Miami, was attended by over 2,000 guests and featured street artist ELLE, who also created the ship’s hull artwork and serves as the ship's godmother.
“Today’s christening of Norwegian Luna marks an important milestone for our Company and a moment of great pride for our entire team,” said John W. Chidsey, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd.
The 1,056-foot, 3,565-guest Norwegian Luna is the latest in the Prima Class, offering intentional design, wide-open spaces, and a variety of tailored experiences. Key selling points for travel partners include the NCL-exclusive and award-winning Aqua Slidecoaster, the digital sports complex Glow Court, and the Luna Game Zone.
“Celebrating Norwegian Luna as the ship’s godmother is an incredible honor, and creating ‘La Luna’ has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my career," said ELLE, godmother and hull artist of Norwegian Luna.
New multigenerational offerings include, Luna Midway, an amusement park-style outdoor area featuring carnival-inspired games; Moon Climber, a multi-level obstacle course designed for kids and adults alike; and Horizon Park, a complimentary recreational area featuring lawn-style games, all located across the ship’s top decks.
Entertainment highlights include “Elton: A Celebration of Elton John,” and “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder,” a multimedia show. Syd Norman’s Pour House returns with the new show “A Tribute to Eagles.” “LunaTique,” an exclusive late-night experience (21+) at The Improv at Sea.
The ship features diverse stateroom categories, including solo, inside, oceanview, and balcony, along with luxury suites in The Haven by Norwegian®. Agents can promote 17 dining venues and 18 bars and lounges, featuring concepts like Onda by Scarpetta (modern Italian), Sukhothai (authentic Thai), Le Bistro (French), and the Metropolitan Bar (NCL’s Sail and Sustain cocktail bar).
From April 2026 through April 2027, Norwegian Luna will offer seven-day round-trip Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries from Miami, featuring calls to Great Stirrup Cay and Harvest Caye. The recent and upcoming enhancements at Great Stirrup Cay include a pool area, a new adults-only exclusive retreat with a bar and seating and Great Tides Waterpark.
Following its inaugural season in Miami, Norwegian Luna will reposition to New York from April 2027 through October 2027, offering four- and seven-day round-trip Bermuda itineraries, featuring flexible in-port time and overnight stays.
