Road trip tourism is gaining popularity in Rajasthan. Well-maintained roads and highways have made travel more convenient. Tourists are now opting for long drives on popular routes like Jaipur-Jaisalmer, Udaipur-Mount Abu, and Ranthambore-Kumbhalgarh.
Ravi Jain, Tourism Secretary said “Rajasthan is emerging as a top choice for domestic travellers due to its diverse tourism offerings, modern infrastructure, and progressive government policies. The rise of road trip tourism, concert tourism, weekend getaways, religious travel, and MICE events is contributing to the sector’s steady growth.”
In the first two months of the year, January and February, around 37.8 million domestic tourists visited Rajasthan. In 2024, over 230 million domestic travellers explored the state, highlighting that Rajasthan has become a year-round destination.
At the India Today Survey and Awards 2025, Jaipur’s Amer Fort was recognised as the Best Heritage Destination, Kumbhalgarh as the Best Mountain Destination, and Bikaner as the Best Culinary Destination.
According to Jain, “Rajasthan is now a hub for tourism throughout the year. The government is working towards the overall development of tourist destinations to provide visitors with the best possible experience, and the state is actively promoting religious tourism, weekend getaways, adventure tourism, and village tourism.”
Jain shares that efforts are being made to enhance cleanliness, drinking water facilities, parking, and other essential services at tourist sites. Additionally, homestays and heritage properties are being promoted to give visitors a deeper experience of Rajasthan’s traditional lifestyle.
Rajasthan is also gaining traction as a destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism. Major corporate events, business summits, and international conferences are being hosted across different cities in the state. At the same time, Rajasthan is becoming a hub for concert tourism, drawing interest from young travellers.
He also stated that “The Rajasthan government, under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, is fully committed to strengthening the tourism sector. The combined vision of the central and state governments is helping Rajasthan reach new heights.”
He added, “The efforts are underway to position Rajasthan on the global tourism map. The state is actively working on digital promotions, influencer marketing, participation in international travel marts and trade fairs, and diversifying tourism offerings.”
