Réunion Island boosts India push with direct IndiGo flights from Chennai

The new IndiGo flight from Chennai is to be launched on April 29 with three weekly flights.

From April 29, 2026, IndiGo is set to operate a direct route between Chennai and Réunion Island, with three flights weekly (Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday). This new connectivity is said to be a key milestone in the destination’s strategy for the Indian market and positions the island as a vibrant French overseas territory at easy access for the discerning Indian traveller.

With this launch, Réunion confirms its ambition to establish a lasting presence in India with a view to catering to the travel requirements of the discerning, indulgent Indian traveller seeking offbeat premium, diverse experiences and beyond.

This momentum to enhance the appeal of Reunion Island in the Indian context is reported to be driven by the Reunion Island Tourism Board, which implements a structured strategy to enhance the destination’s visibility and develop strong partnerships with Indian trade players in collaboration with Atout France India.

For Réunion Tourism Board the approach is based on three pillars: Enhanced air accessibility with IndiGo; trade partnerships with travel professionals, and DMCs in partnership with Atout France India; and customising curated sojourns for the Indian traveller.

Commenting on this recent development, Sheetal Munshaw, Director Atout France India said, “We are extremely pleased with this development. Reunion Island’s multifaceted appeal and wealth of experiences ranging from culture, gastronomy, adventure and more are a compelling proposition for Indian travellers seeking unusual and unexplored destinations. We look forward to impactful collaborations with the Reunion Island Tourism Board across B2B and B2C activations and look forward to welcoming Indian globetrotters to visit Reunion Island”.
