The event is a key tourism promotion activity aimed at showcasing an image of Vietnam as a dynamic, friendly, and culturally rich destination to international audiences, while officially announcing the launch of the direct flight route between Ho Chi Minh City and Copenhagen.

The codeshare will be implemented gradually, and Vietnam Airlines passengers will gain access to six destinations beyond Abu Dhabi: Athens, Addis Ababa, Bahrain, Muscat, Cairo and Istanbul, significantly expanding network reach into the Middle East, Europe, and Africa through Etihad's extensive global network.

The networking session provided a platform to discuss future opportunities for collaboration, strengthen relationships, and explore ways to further promote Vietnam as a preferred travel destination among Indian travellers.

These codeshare flights will be progressively available for sale from October 10th, 2025 via both airlines’ sales channels and travel agents.

The airline will now deploy modern wide-body aircraft, including the state-of-the-art Boeing 787 and Airbus A350, to meet the growing demand for travel between India and Vietnam.

With Vietnam emerging as a top choice for Indian travellers, recent online reports reaffirm the trend. In the first five months of 2025 alone, Vietnam welcomed over 9.2 million international tourists, a 21.3% year-on-year increase. Building on the strong momentum of 2024, the country now targets 23 million international arrivals in 2025, aiming to surpass pre-pandemic records.
