TCS on Outbound Tour Packages a Major Concern: Hina Zaidi

Hina Zaidi, Chairperson, TAAI UP & UK Chapter

Initiatives

We took many initiatives for our members for promoting tourism in Uttar Pradesh. Members of TAAI’s Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Chapter actively participated at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, to promote domestic and inbound tourism in Uttar Pradesh. Varanasi is a new tourist attraction in Uttar Pradesh. As per the tourism department, the tourism sector received proposals of around ₹11,576 crores, and over 40 MoUs were signed in the recent district-level investor summit. TAAI UP & UK Chapter has signed MOUs with different UP universities for skilling the tourism student.

Challenges

At present the major concern of our members is the TCS on outbound tour packages which is increasing from July onwards. Another challenge is related to the recent bankruptcy announcement by Go First Airlines. We are pursuing the Go Air officials for the payments which are in the credit shells of our travel agents.
