UP Tourism to develop two religious sites in Prayagraj with INR 3.46 cr investment

Under the approved plan, over INR 1.64 cr has been allocated for the tourism development of the Falahiri Baba Temple in Karchana, while nearly INR 1.82 cr has been sanctioned for the beautification and infrastructure development of the Durga Temple in Soraon tehsil.
Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has initiated the development of two prominent spiritual sites in Prayagraj district, to strengthen the religious tourism. The Falahiri Baba Temple in Karchana and the Durga Temple at Devi Dham Pachdeva in Soraon tehsil will be developed and beautified with an investment of over INR 3.46 crore, aimed at enhancing infrastructure and providing improved facilities for pilgrims and visitors.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “Prayagraj continues to be a major centre of attraction for pilgrims and tourists from across the country and abroad. While the state government is strengthening infrastructure at well-known religious destinations, equal priority is being given to the holistic development of lesser-known spiritual sites.
Under the approved plan, more than INR 1.64 crore has been allocated for the tourism development of the Falahiri Baba Temple in Karchana, while nearly INR 1.82 crore has been sanctioned for the beautification and infrastructure development of the Durga Temple at Devi Dham Pachdeva in Soraon tehsil.
As part of the project implementation, the first instalment of funds has already been released INR 40 lakh for the development of Falahiri Baba Temple and INR 45 lakh for the Durga Temple project. The initiatives will include comprehensive beautification of temple premises along with the development of key visitor facilities. Planned works include modern lighting systems, a grand entrance gate, pilgrim sheds, stamped flooring pathways, seating benches, clean public toilets, drinking water facilities, dustbins, informative signage, and mural art installations to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the sites.
Highlighting the broader vision behind these initiatives, Minister Singh, added, “The department is committed to ensuring balanced tourism development by promoting both established and lesser-known destinations.”
According to official estimates, around 69 crore visitors travelled to Prayagraj district in 2025, while the Magh Mela 2026 alone witnessed the arrival of over 21 crore pilgrims, reflecting the rapidly expanding tourism landscape of the region.
