Vir Vikram Yadav named as new DGCA chief

Faiz Ahmed Kidwai joins Department of Personnel and training as Additional Secretary.
Ministry of Civil Aviation has undergone through a significant reshuffling. Vir Vikram Yadav has been appointed as the new Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Yadav, a 1996-batch officer of Odisha cadre, succeeds Faiz Ahmed Kidwai. Kidwai has been moved to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) as Additional Secretary.
The appointment, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), is effective immediately. Prior this, Yadav was serving as an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. As Director General, he will oversee the enforcement of civil air regulations, airworthiness standards and licensing of pilots and aerodromes.
