Abacus felicitates female entrepreneurs in travel

Abacus recently hosted an “Evening of Sparkle and Shine” to present awards to 10 outstanding female entrepreneurs in the tourism field. According to the company, In contrast to the other flourishing industries in the country, 70 per cent of the workforce in the travel industry consists of women. Travel and tourism support activities create a high proportion of employment and career opportunities, particularly for female and young workers.
The award recipients came from different social and cultural backgrounds, what they had in common was the remarkable contribution to the travel industry. The evening was particularly personal and heartfelt for the 10 ladies and over 120 key partners from the travel industry present as their struggle and achievements were showcased.
“It is fitting for us to recognise the contributions from women workforce in the industry. Travel and tourism in India has grown by leaps and bounds. This is in part attributed to the inspiration, leadership and hard work of the ladies in the industry. It is my honour and pleasure to be able to present the awards to these 10 inspiring ladies,” said Jeet Sawhney, Managing Director, Abacus India.
