Ascott expands India portfolio with Citadines Udupi in Karnataka

Citadines Udupi will be a premium serviced residence with 104 keys. This marks Ascott’s fourth property in Karnataka and underscores its strategy to scale up in India’s high-growth lodging market.

The Ascott Limited (Ascott), a wholly owned business unit of CapitaLand Investment Limited, has announced the signing of Citadines Udupi, a premium serviced residence with a 104 key property in the scenic coastal town of Udupi, Karnataka. This marks Ascott’s fourth property in Karnataka and underscores its strategy to scale up in India’s high-growth lodging market.

Strategically located between Mangalore (40 km) and Udupi (25 km), Udupi is one of India’s rising destinations for both tourism and industry. With its Blue Flag-certified beach, strong industrial base including the Suzlon Hi-Tech SEZ and Padubidri Industrial Park, and proximity to the New Mangalore Port Trust, the town is fast emerging as a hub for sustainable tourism, clean-tech industries, and coastal development.

At Citadines Udupi, business and leisure travellers will enjoy modern, flexible living experiences with apartments featuring kitchenettes, all-day dining, fitness facilities, and amenities tailored for both short- and long-stay guests.

Hoshang Garivala, Country General Manager, The Ascott Limited, said, “India is a priority market for Ascott’s growth in Asia, and Karnataka remains one of our strongest regions. With its blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and rising industrial ecosystem, Udupi presents a unique opportunity. Citadines Udupi reflects our commitment to bringing world-class hospitality experiences to India’s emerging destinations, while strengthening our presence in the southern market.”

Sudharman Shetty, Director, SKS Sunshine, added, “We are proud to partner with The Ascott Limited for our first project in India under the Citadines brand. Udupi is our home, and this collaboration allows us to combine our hospitality legacy with Ascott’s global expertise. Together, we aim to make Citadines Udupi a preferred choice for travellers seeking the warmth of coastal Karnataka along with modern comforts.”
With this signing, Ascott now has properties across India at various stages of operation and development, spanning key metros such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, and Goa. The addition of Citadines Udupi reinforces Ascott’s focus on coastal and industrial growth corridors in India, complementing its existing portfolio that includes Oakwood Whitefield Bengaluru and upcoming projects in Bengaluru’s Electronic City.
