BANGALORE AIRPORT RECEIVES CLEARANCE FOR STAGE II EXPANSION

Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has been formally accorded the EC for its second stage expansion of the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru. This expansion will include the construction of a new terminal along with the second runway, taxiways, aprons, aircraft parking and all aviation facilities and structures. The expansion is envisaged to accommodate the future traffic growth which is likely to reach 55 million passengers annually by 2029-2030. The expansion within the existing airport site area will cater to both aeronautical and non-aeronautical infrastructure facilities.
The second stage expansion approval was granted by the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Government of India. “The second stage EC for our airport is an exciting milestone which now paves the way for us to secure final approvals for the project. This expansion will help us in contributing significantly towards the state's economic development and is key to achieving our overall vision of making Bangalore the gateway to South India. We remain committed to developing a world-class project in a timely and responsible manner and ultimately bring widespread benefits to this state,”said G V Sanjay Reddy, MD, BIAL.
