CLEARTRIP LAUNCHES IN-APP CANCELLATIONS

Sensing a need to cancel or amend travel itineraries in unforeseeable circumstances amongst a large section of bookers on Cleartrip, the company has launched in-app cancellations for flights, hotels and trains. It provides customers with the ability to cancel bookings on their mobiles. This innovation followed a recent study conducted by Cleartrip revealed a startling fact about the post-booking behaviour amongst Indian travellers, which revealed that, while Indians love to plan their travel, they are also as active when it comes to cancelling their travel plans.

In an in-depth study that Cleartrip conducted to study post-booking behaviour, it was deduced that 12 per cent of the customers who make bookings for their travel, return to either amend or cancel their travel plans.

Samyukth Sridharan, COO, Cleartrip said, "Our study showed that a whopping 12 per cent of bookers returned to cancel their travel. The largest chunk of this cancellation was for flights at 60 per cent. The remaining 40 per cent were for trains and hotels. Very interestingly, 70 per cent of the flight cancellations were done online by the bookers themselves. This immediately brought to light the vital need for cancellation. It was apparent that the emerging traveller wants to be able to not only cancel on his own, but go a step further and also be able to cancel (from his mobile) while on-the-move.”
