From Hungary to Bulgaria: Offbeat Europe takes centre stage in Cox & Kings’ new winter journeys

The Winter Tales series caters to a wide audience, families seeking festive getaways, honeymooners, solo travellers joining like-minded groups, senior explorers, and all-women cohorts for single lady travellers offering departures via Cox & Kings’ signature Group Inclusive Tours (GIT) format.

Cox & Kings has launched its ‘Winter Tales of Europe’ collection, a series of curated group journeys through the continent’s lesser explored but deeply cultural destinations.

According to Cox & Kings’ booking data, offbeat Europe is witnessing a surge in interest from Indian travellers this winter, with Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria emerging as top choices. These regions offer the perfect blend of heritage, affordability, and authenticity, cobbled towns dressed in snow, serene mountain landscapes and festive Christmas markets without crowds.

The itineraries including ‘Eastern Wonders: A Winter Tale’, ‘Essence of Europe: Winter Journey’, and ‘Passionate Europe: A Winter Tale’ are designed to capture the quieter, more immersive side of Europe. While affordability remains a seasonal advantage - with airfares and hotels across Europe up to 40% lower between November and March, Cox & Kings’ focus this season is on value through experience rather than any season-led vacation.

“There’s a kind of quiet grandeur to Europe in winter especially in the regions that aren’t yet overrun by tourism,” says Karan Agarwal, Director, Cox & Kings. “Our Winter Tales itineraries bring that to life for travellers who want to go beyond the obvious and experience Europe as it truly feels to locals.”
