FTE WILL WELCOME 150 INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL BUYERS

The best of the Fijian tourism industry will come together next week at the inaugural Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) on Denarau Island, showcasing the industry to over 150 international travel buyers. Following a welcome cocktail function at the Raddison Blu Resort Denarau Island on Monday night, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, the Minister for Tourism, will officially open the Expo the following morning at the Denarau Island Convention Centre.

The sold-out Fijian Tourism Expo gives over 230 tourism operators from across Fiji the opportunity to present their products and services to buyers from Fiji’s largest international markets, including Australia, New Zealand, the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, China, South Korea and India. “FTE brings international travel buyers and media to Fiji under one roof where they can discover first-hand everything our great destination has to offer,” opined Sayed-Khaiyum. “In fact, already over 16,000 meetings have been scheduled to take place at FTE, giving our industry an unparalleled opportunity to conduct meetings that will help grow their businesses. The fact that the Expo is sold-out demonstrates just how strongly both our domestic industry and international partners are committed to the growth of tourism in Fiji,” he further added.

In conjunction with the Expo for tourism operators, the Fijian Tourism Expo provides the local industry an opportunity to showcase their products and services. The Expo will also include a Fijian Crafts Village in which 16 artisans will demonstrate and sell varied Made in Fiji art and crafts. The Expo will also feature live performances from local musicians, cultural groups and artists throughout the three-day schedule, which includes post-expo networking events and dinners.

In addition to attending the Expo, many of the international buyers will get to experience Fiji first- hand via a wide range of familiarisation trips being conducted both before and after FTE, giving the international travel representatives an ideal opportunity to understand what Fiji has to offer by getting out and experiencing it for themselves.

The Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) is being held from 5-8 May at the new Denarau Island Convention Centre
