GLOBAL HOSPITALITY CONCLAVE 2014 DISCUSSES PRIORITIES FOR HOSPITALITY SECTOR

The recently concluded Global Hospitality Conclave 2014 touched upon trends and opportunities  in the hospitality landscape of the country and the world at large, as well as, discussing  priorities  and arriving at all potential gateways and drivers of  growth in the coming years. “It also provided an opportunity for a serious rethink on existing models,” said a press release issued by the organiser.

The objective of the Conclave was to get the alumni together annually and go  beyond the customary batch reunions by creating a compelling platform of  knowledge exchange, experiences and networking opportunities.

The Conclave, an initiative by the alumni of the  erstwhile  Oberoi  School  of  Hotel  Management  (OSHM),  now  The  Oberoi  Centre for Learning & Development (OCLD), brought  together  over  100  participants including SS Mukherji, Vice Chairman & CEO, The Oberoi Group and industry veterans like Rajiv Kaul, President Leela Hotels; Anil Madhok,  Managing Director, Sarovar Hotels; Ragini Chopra, Vice President - Corporate  Communications and Public Relations, Jet Airways; Dilip Puri, MD, India and  Regional  VP  South  Asia,  Starwood  Asia  Pacific  Hotels  &  Resorts; Rattan  Keswani,  Deputy  Managing  Director,  Lemon  Tree  Hotels.  The newer  generation included Ravish Swarup, Chief Executive, Praxis Services; Nirbhik Goel, HR Director‐India, Barclays and Sudhir Gupta, Chief Executive,  TLC Relationship Management to name just a few.   

This year the Conclave has grown in representation and credibility into a  powerful forum seeking to bring together professionals from different areas  of the service and hospitality industry, encouraging interactions and debates  thereby raising the bar of discussion on critical issues impacting the world in  general and hospitality in particular.

 An all  women  panel  discussed  the  various challenges, opportunities and way forward for creating an equitable,  fair and safe workplace.    Guest  speakers  at  the  Conclave  included  Nakul  Anand,  Executive  Director, ITC; Lalit  K  Panwar,  Secretary  (Tourism),  Govt  of  India, and John Gerondelis, renowned Hospitality Designer, SRSS, Atlanta, US.
