Goa Heritage Festival inaugurated

The Heritage Festival was inaugurated by Francis D’Souza, Deputy Chief Minister; Dilip Parulekar, Tourism Minister and Nilesh Cabral, Chairman, GTDC earlier this week at Football ground, Saligao. The inaugural witnessed over 4,000 visitors attending the event. The festival showcased the state’s rich and unique heritage through stall displays for things intrinsic to Goa: Goan sausages, cashew feni, wood craft, coconut shell craft, crochet and needle work, terracotta, hand-painted tiles, Loka Daij, heritage photo gallery, etc.

Addressing the attendees, Parulekar said, “Every Goan should be proud of their heritage and culture. We are happy to organise the 2nd Annual Heritage festival near the beautiful Mae de Deus church which is a 125 year old heritage structure. We hope that all tourists witness this festival and enjoy Goa’s rich heritage.”

Visitors also got a chance to watch the Divli-naach, Mando, Goff dance, Ganesh Vandana, tarang and the various stalls at the venue. The Department of Tourism plans to make this event an annual property and expand it to include many more local artists and Goan culture to give tourists a wholesome taste of Goa.
