GOA TOURISM PROPOSES NEW GUIDELINES

Goa’s Department of Tourism has framed new guidelines in order to issue permissions for tourism related events. The aim is to simplify and encourage people to organise events all through the year. This will also encourage transparency while granting such permissions.

Dilip Parulekar, Tourism Minister, Goa said, “The new guidelines will be effective for holding minor and major events in Goa. These guidelines have been framed keeping in mind issue faced by people who wish to organise tourism related events in Goa.”

The Department shall be the authority to grant permissions to tourism related events like beach weddings, handicrafts, night bazaars, music festivals, cultural events, MICE events, and other tourism related festivals. All such events organized in private or public lands outside licensed premises will come under the purview of this single window permission.

All those who want to seek permission or any tourism related event to be organised in the state shall submit his proposal to the Department of Tourism with a detailed plan for the theme of the event, event details, number of participants, ticket rates, fire safety arrangement, parking, security, traffic arrangements, public amenities and a detailed site plans.

Each application should be accompanied by a processing fee of Rs. 5000 in the case of minor event and 15,000 in the case of major event. All the applications of major events will be placed before the State Level Permissions Committee. The SLPC may evolve its procedures/standards/forms and make a recommendation to the State Government for decision.

The SLPC will also study the proposal in detail for organising any major event from the point of environmental concerns, sound pollution, garbage management, CRZ violations, traffic movement, security, sanitary arrangements, etc. The central idea is facilitate organisation of tourism events in the state subject to the condition that the organisers follow all instructions and adhere to safety guidelines and other parameters.
