GUJARAT CM INAUGURATES INTERNATIONAL KITE FESTIVAL 2016

The International Kite Festival coinciding with Makar Sankranti, was off to a flying start on the right bank of River Sabarmati with Gujarat Governor O. P. Kohli presiding over the function and Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel inaugurating the show.  The event sees the presence of kitists from 31 countries, from twenty seven Indian states and the rest from Gujarat flying kites of different size and shape and myriad colours.

Briefing about the role of the festival became the financial support for the poor-labour families the Chief Minister said that by adding women in the kite making cottage industry the gross business of the industry has been reached to Rs. 750 crore. She delighted on the occasion while public participation takes place in celebration of three festivals simultaneously at the riverfront; such as Flower Show, Sabarmati festival and the Kite Festival.

Both the Governor and Chief Minister earlier extended warm greetings to the people of Gujarat. The festival began with a colourful march past by the kitists and releasing huge bunches of colourful balloons in the sky.

Minister of State for Tourism Department Jayesh Radadia said that the Kite Festival which has been organized by the Tourism Department of Gujarat is became center of attraction for Indian-foreign kitists. Makarsankranti is uniquely celebrated in Gujarat.

On the occasion Minister Pradeepsinh Jadeja, Chairman to Tourism Department Kamleshbhai Patel, Narhari Amin of Planning Commission, Ahmedabad Mayor Gautambhai Shah, Chief Secretary G. R. Aloriya, Principal Secretary to Tourism Department S. J. Haider, Commissioner Shrinivasan, Collector Rajkumar Beniwal and the kite lovers in huge number were remained present.
