INDIAN FILMS ENHANCE PRESENCE IN PORTUGAL

As part of the mandate to further enhance Portugal’s image and lure as a top-end leisure destination, the Turismo de Portugal office has been actively in dialogue with Indian mainstream film producers, directors and location management agencies. With Indian cinema being a key driver that increases destination awareness and desire, Turismo de Portugal has been active in reaching out to the segment.
Turismo de Portugal, in association with All Around Globe Services of India and Cinemate - Portugal’s leading line services company; brings the first ever Bengali (Eastern India) movie to film the beauty of Portugal. The movie named “Bachchan” produced by one of the leading moviemakers ‘Grassroot Entertainment’ & ‘Reliance Entertainment’ a subsidiary of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group from India.
Amit Jumrani, Producer of the film “Bachchan”, commented, "An important thing to know about movie making is to bring new and unexplored locations around the world to the Indian audience. We are happy to find them here in Portugal.”
The three songs, which will be filmed in Portugal, will bring the country’s un-touched locations to the Indian audience. The film aims to shoot three of its music videos in the Portugal. One of the three songs will be filmed in the city of Lisbon and Porto backdrop and the other will be in the natural beauty of Algarve, Aveiro and Ericira.

We find Portugal very cost effective and efficient to shoot small budget and regional movies. After the great success of “Balupu” which we shot last year, we managed to get Bachchan to Portugal. With Bachchan we open the gates of Bengali film industry to Portugal. We managed to shoot 3 songs ( Music video) in seven days, thanks to “Cinemate” our local partner. We will have many projects coming here in the near future. We look at spending over 100,000 Euros per movie in Portugal."
In the recent past South India’s blockbuster movie titled ‘Balupu’ filmed their main title song along the streets of Lisbon with some additional sequences in the Algarve; the Southern region of Portugal.
