JET AIRWAYS TO BECOME A SINGLE-BRAND AIRLINE

Announcing the advantages of their tie-up with Etihad  and their three-year turnaround strategy in a press conference in Mumbai, Jet Airways also revealed that it would now become a single-brand airline. According to Cramer Ball, CEO Designate, Jet Airways, while the airline has been a strong brand in the Indian market, it’s various products have confused the customer. The airline is hence turning to a single-brand strategy.

Naresh Goyal, Chairman, Jet Airways iterated that the airline will not be selling the AOP model JetLite, but will not be operating under that name any more. All the airline’s products will operate under the brand Jet Airways and wear the Jet Airways livery. The airline will also relook at it’s cost structure to try and keep the pricing competitive.

“We realised that we have created different brands but not differentiated them well. So while we are not selling off or disposing the JetLite and JetKonnect brands, they will all eventually operate as just Jet Airways. We will standardise all the aircraft layouts and try and give the customer value for money,” added Goyal.

Putting another rumour about the sale of aircraft to rest, Goyal stated that the airline will continue to operate ATRs under the single brand.

James Hogan, President & CEO, Etihad Airways explained that, at the Dubai Air Show last year, Etihad placed a large order for widebody aircraft, with the rare allowance that they are permitted to provide them to any of their partner airlines. “When Jet Airways needs new widebody aircraft, we will have them available,” he concluded.
