LAKE GENEVA REGION TO LAUNCH MOBILE APP

The Lake Geneva Region Tourist Office is launching a new intuitive, intelligent and innovative mobile app for iOS and Android smartphones. This free tourism promotional tool offers users customised recommendations sent in real time. The app works as an interactive guide. By answering the questions regarding the user’s interests, and taking into account the environmental elements, the app then suggests personal recommendations for the user.
It also includes a map of the region so the visitor can locate points of interests listed by category. The map can also be activated in “augmented reality” mode so users can view local sites virtually. The app can send notifications when the user is approaching a point of interest he/she might be interested in, so the visitor can enjoy the landscape while being informed of what’s in the area. Finally, the app currently has six set itineraries taking users on a tour of the key sites of the region’s different areas, with points of interest and start and arrival points marked on the map. A calendar of events and an on-line reservation system are also accessible.
Free and available in French, German and English, the app, called Vaud:Guide, can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play. Once installed, it can be used offline (except for online reservations), so roaming costs can be avoided.
