Novotel & ibis Bengaluru Outer Ring Road Celebrate Environment Day

Redefining the concept of farm to fork, Novotel and ibis Bengaluru Outer Ring Road has launched a rooftop garden in collaboration with Woolly Farms, a Bengaluru based start-up social enterprise pioneering the concept of urban farming in cities. The hotel in a bid to reduce its carbon footprint, and also provide guests with the freshest produce will be growing different types of green vegetables such as lettuce, spinach, parsley and many more using the hydroponic method of cultivation.
Over the years, Novotel & ibis Bengaluru Outer Ring Road has implemented several initiatives under its sustainability programme, Acting Here Planet 21, to ensure that its hotel operations are environment friendly and sustainable for the future. Some of these initiatives include procuring Fairtrade coffee from Adivasi farmers in the BR Hills of Karnataka; usage of Fairtrade linen is the rooms, as well as a number of measures to reduce food, water, and energy wastage.
“With people moving towards a healthy and active lifestyle, it is imperative that we provide our patrons and guests with the most nutritious and fresh produce/food. Growing our own veggies is indeed a step in this right direction. We hope that our endeavour will inspire others to start growing their own produce, and as a result benefit themselves and the environment. With Woolly as our partner, we are proud to be pushing the envelope and setting new trends when it comes to sustainable hospitality.” says Maverik Mukerji, General Manager Delegate – Novotel & ibis Bengaluru Outer Ring Road.
