ODISHA AND AP GET FINANCIAL AID FOR CYCLONE HUDHUD

The Ministry of Tourism had asked the State Governments of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh to asses and quantify the extent of damage caused by the cyclone Hudhud to Government tourist assets and submit a detail report for financial assistance for reconstruction of the same.

The Department of Expenditure release grant under the scheme of State Disaster Response Funds (SDRF) for meeting the expenditure for providing immediate relief to the victims of natural calamities including Cyclone/Floods. A second instalment of Centre’s share of SDRF for 2014-15 amounting to Rs.178.495 crores and Rs.115.42 crores was released, in advance to the Government of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh respectively.

Further an amount of Rs.400 crores has already been released from NDRF. This information was given by the Union Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge), Mahesh Sharma, in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.

Sanction of Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for rebuilding of damaged tourist infrastructure to the respective State Governments is subject to receipt of Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), availability of funds, inter-se priority and adherence to the scheme guidelines.

The arrangements for financial relief expenditure in States affected by natural calamities are enumerated in schemes of National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF)/ SDRF which are administrated by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
