Sands Resorts Macau sets sight to hit 120,000 mark next year

India ranks among Sands Resorts Macao’s top 10 source markets.

Sands Resorts Macao is strengthening its outreach to the Indian market. With its integrated resort model, focus on trade partnerships and ambitious goals for the Indian market, Sands Resorts Macao is positioning itself firmly for growth – with India expected to play a key role in its recovery story.

India as a source market

Speaking to T3, Stephanie Tanpure, Vice President of Sales, Sands Resorts Macao, said the destination is steadily regaining momentum from India. “We are really happy with the resonance that we're getting with the Indian market. Particularly from 2024 and the first half of this year, we started to see around 10,000 visitor arrivals from the Indian market per month. For the first half of the year, we were around 40,000 visitor arrivals.”

Looking ahead, Tanpure added, “For next year, we're setting a target of at least 10,000 per month, we're hoping to hit the 120,000 mark. It's a little short of the 150,000 - 200,000 visitor arrivals we saw pre-COVID, but we are confident that we're on an upward trajectory.”

India is returning to prominence within Sands Resorts Macao’s key source markets. “As we move through 2025, India is truly starting to come back into our top five markets. In luxury, leisure, India fluctuates between five, six and seven in the top 10; within MICE, it most definitely ranks four or five. Particularly for December, India is among our top three markets,” Tanpure explained.

While mainland China remains Sands Resorts Macao’s largest source market, followed by Hong Kong, Korea, and India. “India sits ahead of Japan, Singapore, and Southeast Asia, before we move on to Australia,” Tanpure said.

Unique appeal in the market

Tanpure emphasised the resort’s distinctive appeal to Indian travellers. “The biggest success story with India has been our luxury integration. We’re able to seamlessly combine luxury accommodation with luxury shopping. A MICE group of around 500 passengers can work through one single point of contact, with one contract and one payment, while accessing nine luxury properties and experiences, and access even 11,000 guest rooms. It’s a unique proposition that makes it seamless for a travel organiser.”

Beyond accommodation, Sands Resorts Macao differentiates itself through its integrated model. “We offer everything from luxury retail to restaurants, dining, entertainment, theatres and concerts – all under one roof,” Tanpure noted. “That holistic experience really sets us apart in Asia.”

Trade engagement plan

Sands Resorts Macao recently hosted its first exclusive dinner and entertainment evening in Mumbai on September 23, engaging leading trade partners and media – its biggest promotional push in the Indian market to date.

“This is our first big shoutout in Mumbai. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to do both Mumbai and Delhi this time, but in 2026 we plan to extend to second- and third-tier cities with a large roadshow,” Tanpure revealed.

He further added, “A lot of our success in the past in India has been through partnerships with partners. We attended the trade event, Melange. There's more trade partnerships and different initiatives that we are looking at.”

“In March next year, we’ll be bringing a lot of our Indian partners, along with over 300 worldwide partners, to Macao for a mega fam. It’s a big pillar event for us – giving partners the chance to live and experience our new offerings first-hand,” concluded Tanpure.
