SINGAPORE RANKED AMONG TOP CITIES BY GLOBETROTTERS

TripAdvisor recently announced the results of its second annual World City Survey, revealing how travellers view key tourist cities around the world. The results were compiled based on more than 54,000 responses from those who have recently written TripAdvisor reviews for featured cities around the world.

Singapore was amongst one of the high ranking cities in Asia, featuring within the top 10 in 10 of 16 categories in the survey. The Lion City came in first for comfort when travelling alone; second for taxi service, cleanliness of streets, ease of getting around and family-friendliness; and third for friendliness of taxi drivers, ranking above other Southeast Asian cities such as Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi.

“Singapore was well decorated in the TripAdvisor Cities Survey, recognised by travellers for its public transport, family-friendliness, cleanliness of streets as well as being a comfortable place for solo travel. Tokyo also received high marks from TripAdvisor travellers, who praised the city for its hospitality, cleanliness and outstanding public transit system,” said Cindy Tan, Vice President, APAC, TripAdvisor.

Ranking first for city with the best overall experience was Tokyo. The city also claimed top spots for helpfulness of locals, taxi service, local public transportation, and cleanliness of streets. Tokyo received high marks across the board, as it ranked amongst the top 10 in 13 of 16 categories in the survey.

Other high ranking cities include New York City which ranked first for best restaurants and nightlife; Rome which topped the list of attractions/things to do and culture; Dubai which was first for shopping and hotels; and Budapest which was voted best value for money.

“The latest rankings reinforce Singapore’s value proposition of empowering visitors to create a unique, personalised experience, and we thank TripAdvisor users for their vote of confidence. With the myriad sights, sounds, tastes, culture and attractions in Singapore, there is a wide range of world-class offerings to choose from. These qualities are supported by strong infrastructure, making Singapore easy and accessible for visitors to enjoy,” said Lim Shoo Ling, Deputy Director, Strategic Marketing & Brand, Singapore Tourism Board.
