TAAI MEET WITH UNION CABINET MINISTER NITIN GADKARI

Harmandeep Singh Anand, Secretary General, Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), along with  the office bearers of TAAI Nagpur Chapter, met  with Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Surface Transport, Shipping and Rural Development, Government of India in Nagpur earlier this month at the Minister's residence as a special case.

Congratulating him for his elevation as a Union Cabinet Minister with important portfolios relevant to the travel and tourism  industry, Anand and his team thanked him for accepting TAAI's  suggestions on allowing Cenvat credit of services of operator to operator (Tour operator and rent-a-cab operator) on behalf of his government.

Importantly, TAAI also submitted the attached Post Budget Representation and explained to him the burden of Service Tax on travel agents, about which he was fully convinced and immediately instructed his Personal Secretary Mandlekar to write to the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and asked TAAI to coordinate with the FM in New Delhi through his PS. The Nagpur Chapter OBs also presented him a list of demands of travel agents at local level. The Minister was very gracious in receiving the TAAI delegation at his residence and was very attentive to their requests.
