TAT INVITES 900 TRAVEL AGENTS AND MEDIA TO SHARE HAPPINESS

Thailand hosted the biggest BFF Get Together consisting of a Mega Fam Trip & Happiness Street Festival at the end of July 2014. More than 900 travel media, bloggers, celebrities and travel industry executives from 47 countries and territories around the world converged in Thailand during the last week of July for one of the largest fam trips ever hosted by the Thai tourism industry as part of its post-crisis recovery campaign.
Called “Thailand’s Best Friends Forever Mega Fam Trip” (Thailand’s BFF), the event was designed to convey a powerful message that the Thai tourism industry is back to normal. The event had an equally potent goal of bringing the smiles back to the faces of the Thai people after several months of uncertainty. It also helped dispel any lingering doubts about the return to normalcy, and restored visitors’ confidence in returning to Thailand for leisure, business and MICE events.
Thawatchai Arunyik, Governor, Tourism Authority of Thailand said, “This fam-trip will be a critical component of our recovery programme, especially for the second half of this year, when we have to double our efforts to bring visitors back.”
TAT Mumbai, together with Thai Airways hosted a delegation of 34 travel agents and media and the total India delegation totaled nearly 50 Indian opinion leaders. Indeed, the arrivals target for 2014 out of India remains ambitious. TAT is targeting a 1,070,000 Indian travellers by the end of the year. A total of 451,236 Indians have visited Thailand between January and June 2014.
