Thailand issues safety assurance amid unrest at Thai-Cambodian Border

After the clashes last week, the Indian Embassy in Thailand had issued a travel advisory for Indian nationals, urging them to exercise caution and avoid traveling to seven provinces in Thailand due to ongoing situation at the border.

In response to recent reports of unrest along the Thai-Cambodian border, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has issued a formal statement assuring both Thai and international travellers that their safety and security remains the top priority of the Thai government. The statement says that the country's tourism industry remains fully functional, unaffected by the ongoing military tensions at the Thailand-Cambodia border. Both Thai and foreign travellers have been assured that their safety continues to be paramount in national security considerations, with tourism activities proceeding as usual throughout the country's popular destinations.

The statement highlighted that Thai security agencies are actively monitoring and managing the situation on the ground. After the clashes, the Indian Embassy in Thailand had issued a travel advisory for Indian nationals, urging them to exercise caution and avoid traveling to seven provinces in Thailand due to ongoing situation at the border. The Embassy specifically advised travellers to consult official Thai sources, including the Tourism Authority of Thailand Newsroom, for the latest updates on the situation.

Now, swift actions have been taken to prevent any potential impact on tourists, while relevant government authorities and local agencies are working in close coordination to ensure smooth travel and public safety in the region.

TAT has urged travellers to stay informed through official updates and government sources. For immediate travel-related support, visitors can reach the TAT Contact Centre at 1672 (available 24/7), or the Tourist Police Hotline at 1155. TAT reiterated its continued commitment to ensuring that Thailand remains a safe and welcoming destination, despite regional disturbances.
