THAILAND WELCOMES NEARLY 100,000 INDIANS IN MAY

Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism has announced that of 92,389 Indians visited the destination during May, adding up to 370,209 arrivals in the first five months of the year.

Sethaphan Buddhani, Director, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Mumbai Office said, “TAT Mumbai is undertaking a host of strategic initiatives in order to accelerate arrivals in the months to come. For instance, we are undertaking joint promotions with popular tour operators aimed at inducing travel with attractive offers.”

Additionally, TAT Mumbai is hosting a delegation of 32 members of the trade and media to upcoming destinations in Thailand, such as Kanchanaburi and Hua Hin in order to showcase the destination’s potential to repeat travellers. The initiative – the Thailand Mega Fam 2014 – is also aimed at showcasing Thailand’s normalcy and continued warm, welcoming hospitality, post-crisis. It is a global initiative, which is likely to draw 800 participants from all over the world and is expected to drive arrivals during Thailand’s peak season that begins in October.
