TNZ AND TCIL CO-HOST WEEKEND GETAWAY

Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) and Thomas Cook India (TCIL) recently co-hosted an event at Della Adventure in Lonavala, offering Indian corporates and their families a preview of the MICE experience in New Zealand.

Mischa Mannix-Opie, Regional Manager – South and South East Asia, Tourism New Zealand said, “New Zealand is recognised as an adventure destination for all ages and it was indeed a thrilling adventure experience for Indian corporates where they got a taste of what a New Zealand MICE experience would be like. Rotorua's Agroventures Adventure Park had its first international expansion, with the opening of its Swoop and Bungy attractions at Della Adventure and hence we planned the event there. We are delighted we got the opportunity to partner with Thomas Cook to give Indian corporate travellers a taste of the Kiwi experience. We hope to initiate many such innovative engagement activities to strengthen our trade relations within the Indian market.”

Renowned globally for adventure, New Zealand is fast becoming a preferred destination for the MICE travel segment in India. The International Conference and Convention Association’s (ICCA) annual country and city report has recently ranked New Zealand 51st among international MICE destinations.

Commenting on the event, Rajeev Kale, Chief Operating Officer - MICE, Domestic & Sports Holidays, said, “New Zealand conjures up spectacular scenic beauty and unparalleled adventure; so showcasing this to our discerning Thomas Cook India MICE decision maker-influencer segment was indeed a challenge. It took careful strategizing and planning, but the joint effort of Tourism New Zealand and Team Thomas Cook India was well worth it - a MICE event unlike any other! Each inclusion resonated with the New Zealand theme: from private transfers with New Zealand hampers, the special Maori welcome and gift, the venue of Della Adventure and the host of engaging experiences with the heady adrenalin rush of zorbing, zip lining, rappelling, to the adventure experts from New Zealand adding that special touch. The overwhelming response from our Thomas Cook MICE Corporates and the commitment towards New Zealand MICE groups was testament indeed to exceptional delivery.”

The event included presentations by Neha Bhola, Country Manager – India, Tourism New Zealand, on the various tourism offerings of the destination followed by fun filled activities for the children and a gala dinner to further engage with the corporates and their families.
