Trac bags Maldives account

Noted destination promotion company Trac Representations has the won bid from Maldives Marketing & PR Corporation (MMPRC), the national tourism office of Maldives, to represent the destination in Indian market. As per the mandate, Trac will be implementing marketing and public relations campaigns to position Maldives as the most sought after tourist destination in India.

“Our endeavor is to create awareness about Maldivians tourism products not only in metros but also in Tier II & III cities. To begin with, we are looking at tapping the potential of family, youth, honeymoon, MICE and corporate segments. We have a specific strategy to promote Maldives in India market,” said a senior official from Trac Representations.

According to MMPRC, tourism has been described as the driving force of the Maldives economy.  If  both  its  direct  and  indirect  impacts  are  combined,  it  is  responsible  for  a  high percentage of the country’s GDP. The volume of international visitor’s arrival has risen from  42,000  in  1980  to  over 1.286million in 2016, which is  a  huge increase.

Currently, Air India offers daily direct flights to Male from Delhi, Bangalore and Trivandrum; SpiceJet has daily non-stop flights between Male and Kochi; Maldives’ national carrier Maldivian has non-stop flights on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday between Male and Chennai, and non-stop daily service on the Male-Trivandrum route.
