Until now, airport operations were being managed from a temporary facility, as the state government prioritised early functionality after the airport’s completion in 2022. The new terminal building will have an enhanced capacity of 15 lakh annual passengers.

Union Civil Aviation minister, Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu emphasised the need for deepening Centre-State-Industry collaboration for the accelerated growth of the Civil Aviation sector in the Eastern Region.
