The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) has announced resumption of the island’s tourism sector, effective December 15, 2025, inviting global travellers once again.
This milestone follows a comprehensive recovery effort launched after the destructive impact of Hurricane Melissa in late October 2025. As per an official statement, it is said that essential infrastructure was restored, and resorts and attractions are fully prepared for reopening through robust cooperation between the Jamaican government, communities, and tourism stakeholders. This rapid rehabilitation was significantly bolstered by substantial international support, ensuring both a swift return to normalcy and strengthened long-term resilience.
Key re-openings underway
- Sandals Resorts International was among the first major properties to welcome guests, reopening five resorts-including Sandals Dunn’s River Resort, Sandals Ocho Rios, and Beaches Negril Resort & Spa-on December 6, 2025.
- Half Moon Jamaica is scheduled to commence its phased reopening on December 15, 2025, beginning with “Eclipse at Half Moon” and its renovated villas.
